Franz Ferdinand is a Scottish alternative rock band that formed in 2001 in Glasgow, Scotland. The group first entered the spotlight when their second single, "Take Me Out", reached #3 in the UK, and went on to become an international hit. Following the success of the single, Franz Ferdinand's debut album was released at #3 on the UK charts. band went on to win the 2004 Mercury Music Prize and two BRIT Awards in 2005 for Best British Group and Best British Rock Act.
