The name Pearl Jam is intimately tied to the grunge movement of the early 1990s. Moreover, Pearl Jam is also one of the few mainstream grunge bands that has remained active since the atrophy of their contemporaries. The lead vocalist is Eddie Vedder, who joined Pearl Jam in 1990. Stone Gossard, the rythem guitarist, joined Pearl Jam in 1990 as well. Matt Cameron on drums joined Pearl Jam in 1998.
