David Lindley is a rock and roll guitarist and multi-instrumentalist (his instruments include a variety of stringed instruments such as banjo, lap steel guitar, violin, oud and cittern). During 1966 to 1970 he was part of the eclectic psychedelic band Kaleidoscope. He is well-known as a "lead guitarist for hire," particularly for West Coast rock musicians of the 1970s, having played with Jackson Browne, Linda Ronstadt, James Taylor, David Crosby, Graham Nash, Bob Dylan, and Rod Stewart. He has also collaborated with fellow guitarists Ry Cooder and Henry Kaiser, and leads his own band, 'El Rayo X.'
