The California Guitar Trio is a classical guitar band founded in 1991. The group is composed of Paul Richards, Bert Lams and Hideyo Moriya. The group first met in England in 1987 at a guitar course run by Robert Fripp. The trio went on to tour as part of Fripp's League of Crafty Guitarists. After that group ended, the three guitarists formed the California Guitar Trio and began touring on their own.
With a whirlwind of instrumental styles fusing classical, rock, blues, jazz, world music, bluegrass, as well as the quintessential California musical genre surf music, the California Guitar Trio's stunning virtuosity and sly sense of humor have earned them a rabid following and wide notoriety, with significant crossover in the progressive, acoustic and classical music scenes.
