West Side Story Tickets

West Side Story is a musical by Arthur Laurents (book), Leonard Bernstein (music), and Stephen Sondheim (lyrics), and was originally produced, choreographed, and directed by Jerome Robbins. The production debuted in 1957 on Broadway and ran for 753 performances.
The musical focuses on the enimosity between two rival New York gangs, and a love story between a young member of one gang and the sister of the leader of the other gang, based loosely on the story of Romeo and Juliet. The dark theme, sophisticated music, and focus on social problems marked a turning point in American musical theater, which had leaned previously toward lighter themes.
