Formed in 1946 as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks, the franchise began in the tri-cities area of Illinois and Ohio. After moving to Milwaukee in 1951, the team changed its name and became the Hawks. The team moved once more, in 1955, this time to Saint Louis, before finally settling in Atlanta in 1968.
In their long history, the Atlanta Hawks lineup has featured several NBA Hall of Famers such as Dominique Wilkins, Connie Hawkins and Walt Bellamy. The team has made it to the playoffs in three out of four years. However, the Hawks have only won one Championship, in 1957.
The Hawks are still in the process of rebuilding. However, the team has brought new talent to the hardwood, in the form of new draft picks and trades that promise to improve the team this season.
