For centuries, poets, authors, philosophers, scientists, and just plain everyday folks have tried to define love—or imagine it in all of its magnificent and confusing configurations. Three years ago, the Sunday Style Section of the venerable The New York Times introduced a column titled “Modern Love” which for over 150 weeks has published gloriously written pieces that confront that elusive feeling.
Inspired by the popular column, Love is Love is a theatrical event utilizing eight of the “Modern Love” columns and seven songs by Tony, Emmy, and Grammy Award winner Martin Charnin (whose musical Annie just became the 17th longest running musical in Broadway history) and talented Seattle composer Richard Gray.
