Jennifer Holliday is an R&B, soul and pop singer and Broadway actress. She began her career in show business on Broadway, landing her first major role in 1979 at the age of 19, in Your Arms Too Short To Box With God. She followed this with her most famous role, that of Effie Melody White in Dreamgirls. This role earned Holliday numerous awards, including the Tony for Best Leading Actress in a Musical, a Grammy Award for Best Female Performance, Rhythm & Blues, a Drama Desk Award for Best Lead Actress in a Musical, and a Theatre Award for Outstanding Broadway Debut.
