Joan Jett may be best known for her hit single, "I Love Rock and Roll" released in 1982. She has also released several other rock standards including "Crimson and Clover" and "Love is All Around".
Joan Jett formed her first music group, The Runaways, at the age of 15. The group recorded five albums and quickly gained international fame, touring worldwide, and boasting such opening acts as Van Halen and Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
After The Runaways disbanded in 1980, Jett began focusing on her solo career. Her solo album was released in Europe in 1980, but she could not find a record company to release the album in the US, so she started her own record label. As demand for the album swelled, she rerecorded the album and rereleased it with "I Love Rock and Roll" as the title track. The single has become one of Billboard's all time top songs.
