Laura Veirs is a folk singer and songwriter from Colorado. She began her music career in college, where she started an all-female punk rock band called Rair Kx. While in China translating for a geological expedition, she turned to songwriting.
On her return to the United States, Laura Veirs began performing her original folk songs at local venues. In 1999, she recorded and self-released her self-titled debut album. Veirs tours frequently in Europe, the US and Australia both solo and with her backing band Saltbreakers.
