The Who is an English rock band who first emerged in 1964. The group came to prominence in the 1960s and grew to be considered one of the greatest and most influential rock bands of all time, in addition to being possibly the greatest live band ever. Although the group officially disbanded in 1983, they reunite periodically for special events and concerts.In 2000, the three surviving members of The Who began to discuss the possibility of recording an album of new material, but Entwistle died in 2002, which thwarted plans to record. The two remaining members, Townshend and Daltrey, continue to perform as The Who. Their most recent studio album, Endless Wire, was released in 2006.
